Press releases | Media campaigns | Press office management
I'm experienced in all aspects of public sector in-house PR, particularly in the two areas of politics and tourism. I ran the press office for the National Railway Museum in 2006-2007, including several high-profile campaigns with a combined PR value of more than £4 million.
I also organised Press & PR for the Norwich Union Yorkshire Wheel and managed communications for a Member of the European Parliament from 2003 to 2006. As internal communications officer at the Hull York Medical School, I now liaise regularly with the media and our press office at the University of York.
I've
successfully targeted press releases on many subjects, and achieved consistently
excellent coverage in a wide range of local and regional media, both print
and broadcast. I have also written for specialist journals and magazines,
and managed occasional hits in The Times, The Independent,
BBC Breakfast, GMTV, Channel 4 News, BBC News 24, and Radio 4's Today programme.

Launch of The Flying Scotsman Story exhibition: national coverage on BBC Breakfast and BBC News, plus blanket regional press and broadcast media
Launch of the Norwich Union Yorkshire Wheel: repeated national coverage on GMTV, plus blanket regional press and broadcast media
Ongoing coverage of the Wheel: despite no new "news", PR successes in 2006-2007 have included the first Wheel wedding (coverage on national ITV news and regional BBC); speed dating (coverage on BBC Radio 4's Today programme); and abseiling Santa (coverage on regional BBC & ITV) (view article summarising the campaign)
Giants of Steam rail excursions: the Museum's second-highest level of media coverage in 2006-2007, after the Wheel, despite this being a three-year-old, "low news content" campaign
As Press and Communications Officer for Richard Corbett MEP and Press Officer for the National Railway Museum, I'm accustomed to working in a busy in-house press office environment, including developing media contacts, dealing with enquiries, forward campaign planning, budget and resource management, and supervising staff.
