I've been politically aware since my childhood, and my professional work has given me an excellent understanding of UK and European political affairs, as well as experience in how to communicate political concepts to the media and the general public. I have given presentations to diverse audiences, from Ministers and Lords to first-year politics students.
My writing has been published in pretty much every UK national newspaper as well as much of Yorkshire's regional and local press.

My work on the website of Richard Corbett MEP was nominated for the New Statesman New Media Awards 2005, with the judges' comment "keeps constituents well informed at all times. Superb".
The associated blog, which I launched in 2004 and copywrote and edited until 2006, was recently voted one of Europe's top ten political blogs by the Wall Street Journal: Craig Winniker of the WSJ commented, "between reading all the fun and frivolous blogs it's worthwhile checking out something as sober and sincere as MEP Richard Corbett's".
I've researched and written on complex political issues. Sometimes these are briefing papers aimed at politically aware readers, but more commonly they are persuasive texts for general audiences. In the latter context, my work has been distributed to upwards of 5 million electors in Yorkshire and the Humber.
